Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks to perform road construction, maintenance, and repair tasks. Conduct roadway paving operations, highway maintenance activities, and utility locating to support ongoing infrastructure projects. Perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting, material loading/unloading, and site cleanup to ensure efficient project progress. Utilize power tools and hand tools for construction activities like welding, cutting, and assembly on various civil infrastructure projects. Implement traffic control measures for work zones to ensure safety for workers and the traveling public in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Assist in roadway construction projects by preparing sites, setting up barricades, and supporting excavation activities with equipment like caterpillar machinery. Follow strict safety protocols at all times while working outdoors on construction sites or in traffic zones to prevent accidents and injuries. Maintain detailed records of work performed, equipment usage, safety inspections, and project progress reports. Skills Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks. Strong knowledge of road construction techniques including paving, grading, asphalt work, and highway maintenance. Familiarity with FMCSA regulations related to commercial truck driving and safety standards for transportation operations. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs or troubleshoot issues on heavy machinery like caterpillar equipment. Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for welding, cutting, assembly, and general construction tasks. Experience working on civil infrastructure projects involving roadway construction or utility installation. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and manual handling in outdoor environments. Knowledge of traffic control practices for work zones to ensure safety during roadway operations. Working familiarity with utility locating techniques to identify underground utilities before excavation or construction activities. Strong adherence to safety protocols combined with excellent attention to detail during all phases of construction work.
