THE POSITION

Are you ready to use your technical skills to tackle a variety of projects that will keep District 2's buildings and grounds in safe working condition? As a seasonal Maintenance Repairman 1 with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), you will have the opportunity to help maintain district buildings and support safe daily operations. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on problem solving and learning different trades. You will work with experienced staff on repairs ranging from plumbing to electrical to carpentry. Your work will help keep facilities safe, functional, and ready for the winter. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports building and equipment maintenance by assisting with repairs, upkeep, and seasonal tasks across district facilities. As a PennDOT Winter Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

Building Repairs:

Assist with electrical, plumbing, roofing, and heating system maintenance

Carpentry Tasks:

Install fixtures, repair doors, build forms, and complete interior finish work

Grounds Work:

Maintain lawns, clear snow, prune trees, and handle outdoor upkeep

Tool Operation:

Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment to complete maintenance tasks

Facility Support:

Help with stockpile assessments, conference meetings, and fire drills

General Duties:

Clean work areas, follow schedules, pick up supplies, and support safe work practices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Seasonal full-time employment from October 2026 to March 2027.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Work hours are subject to change based upon seasonal requirements and operational needs.

Telework:

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
