Job Description
Job Summary As our Public Works Employee, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving our community's infrastructure. This energetic position involves operating heavy equipment, performing road and park maintenance, and supporting various construction projects to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality public spaces. Duties Operate machinery including snow plows, backhoes, dump trucks, mowers to support road construction and municipal maintenance activities Conduct traffic control for work zones to ensure safety for workers and the public during construction and repair projects. Perform manual labor tasks such as heavy lifting, using hand tools and power tools to assist with construction, repairs, and utility locating efforts. Perform maintenance activities by grass cutting, repairing road, drainage systems and installing signage in accordance with safety protocols. Maintain and inspect equipment regularly; perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure operational readiness. Requirements Proven experience operating equipment such as snow plows, backhoes, dump trucks, mowers or similar machinery. Knowledge of safety procedures and traffic control measures for work zones. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and manual handling in outdoor environments. Familiarity with highway maintenance practices and asphalt paving techniques. Mechanical knowledge related to equipment operation and basic repairs. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL a plus but not required. Construction experience in road or utility projects; utility locating skills are advantageous. Ability to work effectively outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high safety standards.
