Day Shift Help for . Performs highly complex transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: contract maintenance and/or material and process inspection; roadway maintenance and repair; operates light and heavy equipment; preventative and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; helping the public during emergency situations; and training other employees. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:
The essential duties for the Transportation Maintenance Tech I include:


Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; performs basic welding as needed; as required uses/moves equipment/tools, materials and products related to these activities, Assists in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites: assists stranded motorists as required Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades: flags traffic. Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs, hauls materials and equipment to job sites. Maintains picnic and rest areas, rights-of-way, maintenance yards and comfort stations. Moves and picks up litter and roadway debris. Operates light equipment such as a front-end loader one and a quarter cubic yards or less, pneumatic roller, rotary broom. spreader box, backhoe, street sweeper, and mower.



Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.



Additional duties for Transportation Maintenance Tech II include:


Maintains signs; hauls highways materials and and rights-of-way; equipment to performs job sites.

erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites.



Inspects materials materials, meet equipment, Department and specifications. production procedures in a manufacturing plant or at point of supply to ensure construction materials meet Deparment specifications.



Maintains picnic and rest areas. rights-of-way, maintenance yards and comfort stations. Mows rights-of-way and picnic and reast areas; performs plant and landscape maintenance including trimming trees and brush.



Operates heavy equipment such as a front-end loader one and a half cubic yards or more, tractor-trailor haul truck, large dragline shovel, paint striper, and dump truck.



Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.



Additional duties for Transportation Maintenance Tech III include:


Trains other employees.



Identifies, analyzes, and implements solutions for complex maintenance problems.



Operates complex heavy equipment such as a motor grader, large excavator, heavy buldozer, crane, herbicide truck, heavy asphalt paving machine, self-propelled asphalt distributor, and profiling/milling machine.
