Overhead Crane Service Technician Location:
Anchorage, AK Employment Type:
Full-Time Pay:
Competitive pay based on experience $30-$45/hr
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, with overtime and occasional on-call work Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Overhead Crane Service Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair overhead cranes, hoists, and related material-handling equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical skills, work well independently, and provide professional service to customers. Flexibility to inspect, service and repair other pieces of customer equipment such as compressed air systems and vehicle lifts, etc. Primary Responsibilities Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control-system problems. Perform preventive maintenance and OSHA-compliant equipment inspections. Repair or replace motors, brakes, gearboxes, wire rope, chains, contactors, controls, and other components. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals. Complete service reports, inspection documents, and work orders accurately. Communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly to customers. Maintain company tools, service vehicles, and assigned equipment. Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and industry safety requirements. Travel to customer locations and work at heights as required. Participate in overtime or emergency service calls when scheduled. Qualifications Previous experience repairing overhead cranes, hoists, industrial equipment, or similar machinery is preferred. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities. Experience working with three-phase electrical systems, motor controls, and variable-frequency drives is beneficial. Ability to use electrical meters, hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in industrial environments. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. High school diploma or equivalent. Must be dependable, self-motivated, and committed to safe work practices. Preferred Experience Overhead crane or hoist inspection and repair experience. Welding and fabrication experience. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Aerial lift, forklift, or rigging certification. Certified Crane Inspector Experience with radio controls, PLCs, and crane-control systems. Benefits Competitive hourly pay. Overtime opportunities.
