Journey Lineworker

Summary:

Under general supervision, performs construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and repair overhead/underground lines, substations, and related equipment (transformers, switches, cables, streetlights). Perform pole climbing, equipment installation, cable termination, and energized ("hot line") work using proper tools and safety procedures. Troubleshoot outages, test systems, and restore service; support planned and emergency operations. Conduct inspections, maintenance, and upgrades of electrical infrastructure. Operate tools, heavy equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks in various environments. Maintain safety standards, documentation, and equipment; assist in traffic control and system switching. May supervise/train apprentices and coordinate with teams and the public.

Qualifications:

Journey-level Electrical Lineworker certification (IBEW or equivalent) with 3.5-5+ years of experience. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety regulations (OSHA, NEC), and linework practices. Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions. Valid Class A/B driver's license and required safety certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER, CPR/First Aid). Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
