Job Summary Join our team as a Water Meter Technician on a contract basis and play a crucial role in ensuring accurate water measurement for our community. In this outdoor position, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing water meters across various environments. Candidates must provide their own vehicle and tools to perform these tasks efficiently. Your work will help uphold the integrity of utility services while delivering excellent customer service. Duties Install, calibrate, and replace water meters using hand tools, power tools, and bucket trucks to ensure precise readings and system functionality Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on meters and associated equipment, including mechanical components and cabling systems Locate underground utility lines using utility locating equipment to prevent damage during installation or repairs Repair or troubleshoot malfunctioning meters by applying electrical experience, equipment repair skills, and mechanical knowledge Read handheld meter readers accurately in the field, recording data for billing and system monitoring purposes Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including DOT regulations, NEC standards, climbing safety, heavy lifting techniques, and manual handling procedures during outdoor work Communicate effectively with customers during service visits to explain work performed and address any questions or concerns Experience Proven experience working in the energy or utilities sector, specifically with water systems or similar field service roles Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) of utility equipment Familiarity with electrical systems, including use of voltmeters and troubleshooting electrical issues Experience operating field service equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, hand tools, and handheld meter readers Knowledge of safety standards including DOT regulations, NEC codes, climbing procedures, heavy lifting techniques, and outdoor work safety practices Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for meter reading data processing Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to walk extensively in varied outdoor conditions Join us in delivering dependable water services through your technical expertise and proactive approach!
