Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Locator, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation of underground utilities through advanced underground locating techniques. Your expertise will help identify and mark underground utilities accurately, preventing costly damages and project delays. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors on diverse construction sites, utilizing cutting-edge technology to support energy and utility infrastructure projects. Duties Operate utility locating devices, including ground-penetrating radar and electromagnetic locators, to precisely identify underground utilities and obstacles. Interpret construction plans, site plans, schematics, and blueprints to determine utility locations and project scope. Conduct utility marking on construction sites using paint, flags, or other marking tools to clearly delineate underground utilities for excavation teams. Utilize vacuum excavation techniques for utility detection and verification, ensuring accurate identification of underground infrastructure. Communicate effectively with project managers, construction crews, and clients to relay locating findings and coordinate safe excavation activities. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company safety policies during all field operations. Operate company vehicles responsibly while traveling between job sites and maintain all equipment in good working order. Requirements Proven experience as a service technician or field technician in utility locating or related outdoor work environments. Knowledge of land surveying principles, utility marking procedures, and site plan interpretation. Familiarity with underground utilities, schematics, blueprints, construction plans, and ground-penetrating radar technology. Experience working with utility locating devices such as electromagnetic locators and vacuum excavation tools. Strong understanding of safety protocols relevant to construction sites and underground utility detection. Ability to operate company vehicles safely and maintain a clean driving record. Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions with the physical ability to perform manual tasks such as backhoe operation or cabling work. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration. Knowledge of underground utility systems including energy & utilities sector standards is highly desirable.
