Electric Superintendent Purpose of Job:

Construction and maintenance of the electric distribution system, including electric cable, transformers, substations, capacitor banks, meters, etc.

Job Qualifications:

Experience and qualifications/certification in installation and maintenance of electric distribution system cable and equipment; valid Kentucky driver's license; Commercial Driver's license (CDL) or the ability to acquire.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform work on overhead and underground electric distribution circuits both energized and de-energized using proper protective equipment and hot-line tools, per local, state, federal, NEC, and NESC requirements. Erect, remove and climb electric system poles, towers, steel structures and related facilities. Assemble, install, remove and transfer line and riser hardware and equipment such as transformers, cross arms, insulators, switches, fuses, lightning arrestors, etc. Operate aerial bucket equipment, digger derrick equipment, and other Commission vehicles. Assist with tree trimming as required. Install, repair and remove street lights, security lights, customer electric services, meters and other line installations, making necessary connections, taps and splices, installing guys, and jumpers in accordance with Commission, NEC, NESC and other applicable standards. Load, unload, store and handle materials and equipment in a proper and safe manner. Test lines and equipment using appropriate test equipment and methods. Perform circuit switching during normal or emergency conditions. Exercise proper care of materials, tools, equipment, vehicles and supplies. Make sure work areas are kept clean and that debris is properly disposed of. Procure materials, tools and equipment per Commission procurement policy. Work with other Commission departments as required. Assist with the training of Commission personnel moving into and progressing within the classification as required. Perform all job duties and related activities in accordance with established safety practices. Ensure that all installations are performed in accordance with CUC, local, state and federal rules and regulations. Meet with the public and customers in a professional and courteous manner. May be required to perform other duties not normally associated with this position upon request or as directed by the supervisor.

Chief Journeyman Lineman:

Lead journeymen linemen in absence of superintendent.
