Job Summary Talkie Communications is seeking a dependable and safety-focused MISS Utility / Utility Locator to handle all MISS Utility and underground utility locating responsibilities for the company. This position will be responsible for managing Talkie Communications' MISS Utility tickets, locating and marking underground utilities, coordinating utility information with our fiber optic crews, and making sure all required utility locates are completed before work begins. The Utility Locator plays an important role in preventing utility strikes, property damage, service interruptions, and unnecessary delays. Responsibilities Handle and manage all MISS Utility tickets for Talkie Communications. Review incoming MISS Utility requests and determine the required locating work. Make sure all required utility locates are completed within the required timeframes. Locate and mark underground utilities along Talkie Communications fiber optic routes. Locate electric, gas, water, sewer, telephone, cable, fiber optic, and other underground utilities. Use electronic utility locating equipment to accurately identify underground utilities. Mark utilities with paint, flags, or other approved markings. Review maps, plans, utility records, and MISS Utility information before beginning work. Identify potential utility conflicts before fiber installation begins. Communicate utility locations and potential hazards to Talkie Communications crews. Coordinate with foremen, drill crews, fiber crews, and management. Perform utility verification and test-pitting when necessary. Take photographs of utility markings, test holes, and other required documentation. Maintain accurate records of all completed utility locates. Keep MISS Utility tickets and company records organized and up to date. Report damaged, unknown, incorrectly marked, or conflicting utilities immediately to management. Properly operate, inspect, and maintain utility locating equipment. Make sure utility markings remain visible and accurate while work is being performed. Follow MISS Utility requirements and Talkie Communications safety procedures. Wear all required PPE. Travel to different Talkie Communications work locations as needed. Assist management and crews with utility-related questions and concerns. Perform other duties related to utility locating and fiber optic operations as assigned. Qualifications Previous MISS Utility or utility locating experience preferred. Experience with underground utilities, fiber optic, telecommunications, or directional drilling is a plus. Training is available for the right candidate. Ability to learn and properly operate utility locating equipment. Ability to read maps, plans, utility records, and MISS Utility tickets. Strong attention to detail. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions in the field. Ability to communicate effectively with Talkie Communications crews and management. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to travel between different work locations. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Safety Responsibilities Safety is a critical part of this position. The Utility Locator must ensure that underground utilities are properly identified and marked before Talkie Communications crews begin work. If a utility cannot be positively identified, markings are incorrect, or an unexpected utility is discovered, the Utility Locator must notify the foreman or management before work continues. Position Expectations The person in this position is expected to take full responsibility for Talkie Communications' MISS Utility locating requirements , including keeping tickets organized, completing locates on time, maintaining accurate records, and communicating utility information to the appropriate crews. The successful candidate must be dependable, organized, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.

Pay:

$20.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
