Locate Technician Location:
Jefferson City, MO 62043 Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Locate Technician to join our team in Jefferson City, MO. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and other documentation to locate underground utilities. Use specialized equipment such as ground-penetrating radar, electromagnetic locators, and GPS devices to detect and mark utility lines. Mark utility locations clearly and accurately using paint, flags, or stakes in accordance with industry standards and local regulations. Communicate with contractors, excavators, and other stakeholders to provide information about utility locations and safety precautions. Maintain accurate records of locate requests, site visits, and markings performed. Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements to prevent damage to underground utilities and ensure public safety. Respond promptly to locate requests and manage multiple assignments efficiently. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred. Familiarity with utility maps, blueprints, and locating equipment. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Work Environment This position involves working outdoors on construction sites and residential or commercial properties. The Locate Technician must be able to navigate uneven terrain and work in all weather conditions while adhering to safety standards.
