About The Company SLG Services, Inc. performs turnkey outside-plant (OSP) telecom construction — aerial and underground placement, fiber and coax splicing, testing and restoration — as a single self-performing partner to leading communications providers. The Role The Telecom Lineman performs aerial construction, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic and coaxial cable, by climbing poles and operating aerial lift (bucket) trucks. The Lineman works as part of a crew to safely and efficiently build and maintain overhead plant in accordance with company and industry standards Responsibilities
- Assist crew with loading, unloading, and staging materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform trenching, digging, and backfilling for underground cable and conduit placement.
- Assist with conduit placement and fiber-blowing operations under the direction of the foreman.
- Set up and maintain work-zone traffic control and signage (flagging).
- Assist linemen with aerial cable placement and equipment staging from the ground.
- Operate hand tools and light equipment as directed and trained.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site; restore work areas (backfill, landscaping, cleanup) upon completion.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of company vehicles and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements, including OSHA and NESC guidelines.
- May climb poles under supervision once trained and certified on proper climbing technique and equipment. Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs on a regular basis.
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Company Values
