Job Description

Job Description Overview:
A client of ours is seeking an Underground Utility Locator to support damage prevention efforts by identifying and marking underground utility lines at construction and excavation sites. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, operating utility locating equipment, interpreting utility maps, managing work orders, and communicating with excavators and field personnel to ensure safe digging practices. Day to
Day:
  • Travel to multiple job sites each day using GPS, maps, and assigned work orders.
  • Utilize specialized locating equipment to identify and accurately mark underground utility lines to prevent damage during excavation activities.
  • Read and interpret utility maps, construction drawings, and work orders using a laptop or other company-provided technology.
  • Document completed locates, sketch markings, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Communicate directly with excavators, contractors, and utility personnel to provide information on underground facilities and ensure safe digging practices.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and navigate various terrains, including grass, gravel, dirt, and roadways.
  • Access underground utility infrastructure by entering confined spaces and removing/replacing manhole lids when required.
Perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day, including standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, lifting, and marking utilities with paint while following all safety procedures and industry standards.
