Powerline Equipment Operator Work Location:
In person - West Texas and other assigned regions Compensation for this position is based on experience
Position Summary:
Phase 3 Energy & Power Solutions, LLC is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Powerline Equipment Operator with hands-on experience in distribution line work. This role involves operating specialized equipment to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead powerlines, assisting with storm restoration, and ensuring compliance with all safety standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and proficient in working with energized primary voltage systems while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Essential Job Functions:
Operate and maintain specialized equipment (digger derricks, tensioners, rope rigs) for powerline construction, maintenance and repairs. Safely operate and maneuver equipment to access job sites, position materials, and perform line work at varying heights and locations Support line crews by setting poles, stringing wire, installing hardware, and assisting with construction tasks. Use equipment to transport tools, materials, and replacement components to work sites, and assist with tasks such as replacing insulators, repairing conductors, and replacing damaged hardware. Conduct equipment checks, complete basic maintenance, and report issues promptly. Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on overhead powerlines and related equipment. Inspect and maintain equipment by checking fluids, hydraulic systems, and moving parts; make minor repairs and report issues. Participate in ongoing training to strengthen equipment knowledge, safety practices, and compliance with industry regulations. Follow OSHA, NESC, and company safety standards at all times. Assist with storm response and emergency power restoration. Travel regularly to job sites across West Texas and other assigned regions
Minimum Requirements:
Must be authorized to work in the United States. 3+ years of experience in electric distribution line work Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) - with an acceptable
Motor Vehicle Record Language Proficiency:
Effective English communication skills (reading, writing, and verbal comprehension) are required for safety-critical operations. Line workers must be able to read, interpret, and comply with NESC and OSHA safety standards, equipment manuals, hazard communications, and technical documentation; comprehend verbal safety briefings and peer-to-peer crew communications; respond immediately to emergency directives; and report equipment issues and safety hazards accurately. Working on or near energized high-voltage equipment and at heights requires clear, instantaneous communication to ensure individual and crew safety. Proficient with energized primary voltage systems Experience with storm response and troubleshooting OSHA 10 certification (minimum required) Strong understanding of grounding, induced voltage, sagging wire, and line phasing Willingness to travel and work outdoors in various weather conditions Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted and work at heights over 100 feet Employment for this role is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and MVR check in accordance with company policy and applicable laws
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
This role is performed in outdoor field, construction site and shop environments and requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Standing, walking, bending, and working on your feet for extended periods. The position involves frequent physical labor, including lifting and carrying heavy items. Candidates must be able to safely handle these tasks and perform additional physical duties as needed to support operations. Performing physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, and full-body movement (e.g., uneven surfaces, stand/sit long periods of time, bending, stooping, hard surfaces, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crouching). Having sufficient visual acuity to perform essential functions of the job. Wearing required PPE, which may include safety glasses, head protection, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. This role requires regular travel to and from field locations, often in varied and sometimes inclement weather conditions.
