Job Description

Job Description PaneraTech is looking for a Field Technician based in the DC Metro Area to support field operations across the glass and steel industries. This is a hands-on role focused on conducting on-site inspections and supporting the installation of advanced monitoring systems in industrial environments. The position is well suited for candidates with strong practical experience in heavy industry, maintenance, furnace operations, refractory environments, or similar technical field settings. An engineering degree is not required. The role will initially focus on supporting SmartMelter® inspections , which use portable radar-based measurements to assess refractory thickness inside furnaces, and Polaris installations , which involve fixed sensor systems installed on furnaces to monitor critical areas over time. This is a hands-on field role that requires working in active industrial environments and may involve exposure to heat, long on-site hours, and physically demanding conditions. Depending on performance, project needs, and business priorities, the role may expand into more advanced inspection activities such as thermography, visual audits, endoscopy, and broader furnace condition assessments. Job Requirements Based in The DC Metro Area Experience in the glass industry preferred Experience in steel, refractory, furnace operations, maintenance, or other heavy industry environments also highly relevant Technical background or strong hands-on industrial experience Comfortable working in active industrial plants and field environments Willing to travel internationally up to 70-75% of working time Available for short-notice travel as needed Strong communication skills Practical, reliable, adaptable, and safety-conscious Able to work effectively in diverse plant and customer environments Comfortable performing physically demanding work in industrial environments, including exposure to heat and extended on-site hours Must be able to complete any required pre-employment occupational medical evaluation and receive clearance for work in high-heat industrial environments. Valid driver's license Job Responsibilities Perform SmartMelter® inspections at customer sites Support installation and maintenance of Polaris monitoring systems Collect, validate, and document field data accurately Work on-site in active industrial plants, including glass furnaces and steel equipment environments Follow strict safety, operational, and customer-site procedures Represent PaneraTech professionally in front of customers Support internal teams with execution, coordination, and reporting Maintain, organize, and manage field equipment Participate in training and assist with additional inspection activities when required Contribute to high-quality field execution across PaneraTech's operations in the Americas and globally Job Benefits Competitive compensation aligned with local market conditions Extensive international travel exposure Hands-on experience with advanced industrial technologies Opportunity to expand into more advanced inspection methods based on performance and business needs Exposure to multiple plants, technologies, and industrial environments Strong technical development over time Global team environment with direct collaboration with experienced specialists
