Salem-Republic Rubber Company Maintenance Assistant
- Second Shift Position Summary Salem-Republic Rubber Company, a leading manufacturer of industrial rubber hose products, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support second shift operations.
This role assists in maintaining and repairing production equipment used in calendering, extrusion, curing, and hose assembly processes. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and eager to develop hands-on maintenance skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repair of mills, calenders, extrusion lines, autoclaves, steam systems, mandrel lines, and hose testing equipment Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production machinery and facility systems Support quick-response repairs to minimize downtime during production Assist with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical system maintenance Perform basic electrical tasks under supervision (motors, sensors, wiring) Help install, modify, and relocate equipment Assist with inspection and upkeep of boilers, piping, and utility systems Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas Document maintenance activities and communicate issues Follow all safety policies including lockout/tagout procedures Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Technical or vocational training preferred 1-3 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred Experience with steam systems or autoclaves is a plus Basic mechanical knowledge; electrical knowledge beneficial Skills & Competencies Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to follow instructions and work in a team Good communication skills Attention to safety and detail
Work Schedule Second Shift:
Typically 3:00 PM
