  • Planner ? Vopak is seeking a new Maintenance I/E Technician
  • Planner who will be responsible for both the hands-on troubleshooting and strategic planning of maintenance activities for our terminal activities, including electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems.

  • Planner ?
3-5 years of direct experience in the Instrumentation & Electrical industry, preferably within a process or industrial environment (e.g., chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas terminal). Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act. Must possess a valid state Driver's License. Must be fluent in English (read, write, speak). Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, interpret, and follow written job instructions, directions, and regulatory documents (e.g., U.S. Coast Guard manuals). Proficient computer skills, including experience with Google Suite and navigating CMMS systems such as Hexagon EAM. Ability to prioritize work and strong multi-tasking skills. Proven ability to function effectively as a team player. Ability to work a regular work schedule, as well as overtime as workload dictates, and participate in an on-call schedule.
Nice to have:
High School Diploma or GED. Electrical Journeyman State License. NCCER certification in Industrial Electrician or Instrument Technician. Your core responsibilities are:
The Maintenance I/E Technician
  • Planner is responsible for the full lifecycle of maintenance activities, from hands-on execution to strategic planning.
This includes troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical and instrumentation systems and controls within the terminal. A critical part of this role is ensuring all prerequisites, such as compliance with permit-to-work and procurement requirements, are fulfilled to allow for the safe and efficient scheduling of work orders for execution. Main responsibilities include,
Planning & Scheduling:
Field survey of the work request in order to fully understand problem(s) and implication(s). Executing functional tests, calibrations, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of instruments, electrical equipment, and process/environmental analyzers. Determining the required activities to execute the work order (determine what activities, sequence, procedures, parts, services, labor, tools and/or material lists are needed and determine feasibility of Work order, whether MOC process needs to be triggered and permit requirements) Planning activities within the work orders so that the work can be carried out effectively and efficiently. Identify labor requirements, own labor or external services. Prepare scope of work, identify applicable procedures, work instructions, testing requirements and any other specification to ensure completion of the job. Procure all necessary materials, tools, or services required for maintenance activities. Reviews and analyze bids of multiple suppliers and make recommendations in the vendor selection process Prepare work orders for periodic inspections and preventive maintenance (PM). Assessing results from PM activities, determining whether a work out of inspection is necessary and registering information in the EAM system. Ensuring proper documentation is included in the work order. Assist in the design and selection of new equipment or systems for process improvements or new installations. Ensure compliance with daily work order schedules and coordinate with other crafts as needed or assigned by the I&E Supervisor. Maintain accurate records within Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Hexagon EAM, including findings, repair history, and potential improvements. Assist with inventory control and the selection of necessary parts and tools for repairs.
Hands-On Technical Execution:
Execute functional tests, calibrations, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of instruments, electrical equipment, and process/environmental analyzers. Assist in the design, selection and installation of new equipment or systems for process improvements Ensure excellent housekeeping practices in the work area to maintain a safe and organized environment. Ensure strict compliance with activities described in the permit-to-work system and all safety procedures, including Federal OSHA and state OSHA guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations concerning Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) and other product handling procedures based on Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Possess strong knowledge of NEC electrical codes, voltage, current, and power levels up to 600 volts, as well as single-phase and three-phase electrical systems. Familiarity with 12.474 KV power distribution systems and conduit/raceway installations Work Environment Office AND Terminal Employee This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as exposed to outside elements. Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 104°F (40°C) and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 15°F
  • 10°C) in the winter months.
There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous. The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments. Employees must be able to wear PPE required by the location. General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE. Physical Demands Office AND Terminal Employee While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak and hear. The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required, on occasion, to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may be required to climb ladders/storage tanks up to 50' in height. The employee may be required to enter confined spaces. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees may be required to travel by air, rail, bus, or car.
