Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities Work includes but is not limited to carpentry, masonry, plumbing, painting, heating systems, maintenance and repair plus related work as required. Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes and implement effective repairs promptly. Installs and repairs electrical wiring and equipment. Builds and/or install cabinets, shelves, doors, flooring, windows and locks. Operates and/or performs repairs on motorized equipment. Assist with facilities maintenance tasks including plumbing repairs, residential painting touch-ups, and general upkeep of the building's infrastructure. Performs preventative maintenance on agency equipment and fixed property. Prepares surfaces and paints exteriors and interiors of buildings, structures and equipment. Performs general grounds maintenance including lawn care and snow removal. Loads and unloads materials and supplies. Removal and installation of appliances. May on occasion perform cleaning tasks. Will work under direct supervision of a Senior Maintenance Mechanic. Requirements Good knowledge of buildings and grounds, maintenance and repair, and construction practices. Good knowledge of common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions associated with maintenance, repair and construction. Thorough knowledge of the practices and techniques of one of the standard trades and good knowledge of one or more additional trades. Ability to communicate, understand and execute oral and written directions. Willingness to be available to respond to emergency situations. Strong knowledge of facilities maintenance procedures including plumbing, electrical work, painting, and general repairs. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Three years experience in general building construction, maintenance or repair in one or more of the standard trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, etc. Required to have a valid NYS Driver's License and use of personal vehicle is required.

Pay:

$20.00 - $24.00 per hour
