Job Description

Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The Maintenance Mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs material handling equipment and facility systems, including electrical components and light building structures. This role ensures safe and reliable operation of equipment, supports preventive maintenance programs, and upholds corporate policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safety standards in a climate-controlled environment. Responsibilities Inspect all electrical and power units in the facility on a regular basis to ensure safe and reliable operation. Detect malfunctions and defects in electrical systems, vehicle engines, and material handling equipment, and perform effective repairs. Inspect and repair material handling equipment and perform minor building repairs as needed. Maintain accurate records of service cycles, preventive maintenance, and all maintenance activities performed. Ensure full compliance with corporate policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules while performing all work functions. Report damages, defects, and any issues related to electrical units, equipment, or building systems to the supervising authority in a timely manner. Place orders for spare and replacement parts and complete all required documentation for parts usage and inventory. Use and handle electrical repair and testing tools and equipment safely and appropriately. Perform light building maintenance tasks such as changing bulbs, painting, caulking, and similar repairs. Conduct daily inventory counts to ensure adequate stock of parts, tools, and supplies. Move equipment safely from one building to another using appropriate material handling methods and equipment, including forklifts and heavy equipment where applicable. Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and promptly report any noncompliance observed. Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcing safety practices across the facility. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on industrial and heavy equipment according to established schedules. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Operate forklifts and other industrial equipment safely as needed to support maintenance and material handling activities. Complete all tasks efficiently, manage time effectively, and respond to assignments from supervisory personnel. Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations and maintenance. Essential Skills Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician working with industrial or heavy equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Hands-on experience inspecting and repairing material handling equipment. Ability to perform minor building repairs, including tasks such as changing bulbs, painting, and caulking. Knowledge of and adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules. Ability to follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Proficiency in using electrical repair and testing tools and equipment safely and effectively. Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial and heavy equipment. Capability to conduct accurate daily inventory counts and maintain maintenance records. Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely. Strong time management skills and the ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Attention to detail when reporting damages, defects, and maintenance issues to supervisors. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with material handling systems in an industrial or logistics environment. Experience in industrial maintenance involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems. Comfort working weekend shifts (5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Monday) with an associated shift differential. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices in a production or logistics setting. Ability to move and position equipment safely between buildings using appropriate tools and vehicles. Strong documentation skills for recording service cycles, maintenance activities, and parts usage. Why Work Here?
