Job Description
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the functionality and reliability of greenhouses and buildings. This role requires strong mechanical skills, manual dexterity, and proper use of tools while adhering to all safety precautions. All tasks will be performed in support of the policies, goals, and objectives of Greenheart Farms, Inc. Additional duties may be assigned by the Maintenance Manager as needed.Work Schedule:
This position requires flexibility in scheduling. Occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays may be necessary to meet operational demands and ensure timely completion of activities in time.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review work orders and compare reported issues to observations of equipment to develop a repair plan. Troubleshoot, conduct, and report problems/repairs promptly to ensure maximum reliability. Complete all Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks in a timely manner. Perform thorough preventative maintenance on greenhouse and building components. Troubleshoot and repair greenhouse systems, including: Irrigation machines PVC and galvanized plumbing Greenhouse structure and coverings Side curtains and winch systems Heating systems (Modine, Infrared, etc.) Troubleshoot and repair building and grounds systems, including: General building repairs Road and landscape maintenance Installation and repair of above/underground water, fertilizer, gas, and electrical systems Clean and apply lubricants to greenhouse and building components. Maintain accurate logs of work performed, parts used, and update information in the system to close out tickets. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, electrical work, etc.). Wear appropriate PPE for all tasks performed. Ensure all work complies with safety policies and regulations. Assist other departments as needed.Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Maintenance Mechanic. Knowledge of machinery, hydraulics, electronics, and related systems/components. Skilled in using various hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, hammers). Ability to follow established procedures, read instructions, and interpret schematics. Strong commitment to health and safety guidelines. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others. Strong problem-solving ability. Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in varying environmental conditions. Bilingual a plus but not required.Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required or equivalent and Minimum 8 years of experience as a mechanic. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform minor to medium-level repairs. Knowledge of standard materials, tools, and equipment, and skill in their use and care. Knowledge of building and equipment maintenance/repair techniques.Physical Demands:
This position requires physical strength and stamina, including frequent walking, lifting/moving up to 50 lbs, and performing tasks that involve bending, kneeling, and climbing. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.Job Type:
