Job Description
Fixed Maintenance Supervisor Summary A mining operation is seeking a Fixed Maintenance Supervisor to oversee preventive maintenance and repair activities for surface and underground fixed equipment assets. This role is responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, coordinating scheduled and emergency repairs, and supporting operational reliability and safety initiatives. The position reports directly to the Fixed Maintenance Foreman. Key Responsibilities Oversee execution of preventive maintenance, scheduled repairs, and emergency repairs for fixed equipment assets. Support the Fixed Maintenance Foreman and assume foreman responsibilities when needed. Coordinate and manage contractor maintenance activities. Collaborate with planning teams to ensure maintenance work is properly scheduled and executed. Partner with operations supervisors to support equipment maintenance requirements. Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance schedules. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for maintenance processes. Coordinate with planning and warehouse teams to maintain appropriate spare parts inventory. Assist with emergency maintenance of hoists, chillers, pumping systems, compressors, and underground fixed plant infrastructure. Assign work orders and maintain high standards for safety, quality, and productivity. Monitor work progress throughout shifts to ensure performance expectations are met. Participate in risk assessments and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure quality and reliability standards are achieved. Complete required documentation and CMMS entries, including shift reports, material requests, and timekeeping records. Attend required meetings, training sessions, and department activities. Supervise hourly maintenance employees, including training, work assignment, performance management, disciplinary actions, and issue resolution in accordance with company policies and applicable labor agreements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical associate degree preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of maintenance experience. Experience in underground mining environments required. Strong understanding of underground hard rock mining operations. Working knowledge of underground mining equipment and related maintenance practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
