Job Title:
Maintenance Supervisor Job Description This role oversees a team of approximately 15 maintenance professionals, including mechanics and electricians, in a highly automated automotive plant. The Maintenance Supervisor analyzes and responds to the daily manufacturing plan, manages and resolves equipment breakdowns, and ensures all preventive maintenance activities are completed on schedule. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, and close collaboration with production to keep equipment running safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and manage a team of approximately 15 mechanics and electricians in a unionized environment, fostering strong working relationships and effective communication. Analyze the daily manufacturing plan and adjust maintenance activities and staffing to support production requirements. Take ownership of managing and leading equipment breakdowns, including rapid response, troubleshooting, and coordination of corrective actions to minimize downtime. Oversee and support a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) schedule, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and documented accurately. Prioritize maintenance tasks based on production needs, equipment condition, and safety considerations, and allocate resources accordingly. Drive accountability through clear processes, performance expectations, and consistent follow-up with team members. Conduct checks, tests, and inspections on equipment and systems, interpret results, and communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Develop and implement solutions to operational and technical issues involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment runs effectively, addressing issues proactively before they impact operations. Utilize CMMS tools to track maintenance work, schedule PM activities, and maintain accurate records of repairs and equipment history. Support and oversee maintenance activities on Fanuc robots and other automation systems, ensuring reliable operation in a heavily automated environment. Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints and schematics to guide maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Apply PLC troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve control system issues as needed. Promote a culture of critical thinking, problem solving, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team. Collaborate with other departments and teams to share information, coordinate work, and support plant-wide goals. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience as a supervisor, leading maintenance or similar technical teams. 5-7 years of experience reading and interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints and schematics. Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in maintenance management and supervision within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance, including both preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Demonstrated ability to manage and lead responses to equipment breakdowns in a fast-paced production setting. Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Experience working with Fanuc robots in a heavily automated environment. Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints and schematics accurately. Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial setting. Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for planning and tracking maintenance work. Analytical ability to solve complex problems under time pressure. Proven ability to work with and manage different teams, including unionized maintenance staff. Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where downtime is critical. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills applied to technical and operational challenges. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Kronos or similar workforce management systems is preferred. Technical and working knowledge of robotics and automation systems beyond Fanuc robots. Background in an automotive or OEM manufacturing environment is beneficial. Experience building effective relationships in a unionized (UAW) environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams, including production and engineering. Comfort working under pressure in situations where equipment downtime has immediate operational impact. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a fully on-site role in an automotive manufacturing plant, with openings in General Assembly and in the Body Shop. The facility operates at a very fast pace, where equipment downtime requires immediate response and strong leadership during breakdowns. The environment is heavily automated, with extensive use of Fanuc robots and advanced automation systems, and all equipment maintenance is performed in-house rather than outsourced. The maintenance team works closely with unionized mechanics and electricians, making relationship-building and collaboration essential. The setting involves typical industrial plant conditions, including working around machinery, robotics, and production lines, with adherence to standard safety practices and appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring Hill, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
