Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician maintains, installs, and repairs machinery, buildings, and equipment in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility. This role supports a wide range of equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and plant machinery, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations across the facility. Responsibilities Assist the engineering department with assembling new equipment and implementing improvements to existing equipment and facilities. Respond promptly to maintenance breakdown calls according to facility priorities and production needs. Investigate and troubleshoot the root cause of maintenance breakdowns to prevent recurrence. Perform accurate and timely repairs on machinery, equipment, and facility systems to restore operation. Document all work performed and parts used in the internal maintenance work order system. Provide detailed pass-downs and status updates to the oncoming shift to ensure continuity of work. Maintain safe working practices at all times and follow all safety procedures and guidelines. Organize and maintain work areas according to 5S principles to support a clean and efficient workspace. Perform all duties necessary to support an efficient, effective, and cost-conscious maintenance department. Conduct preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and weekly inspections on all forklifts and forklift batteries, including checking tires, performing oil changes, monitoring water levels in batteries, and ensuring cleanliness of battery terminals (location specific). Work overtime and off shifts as required to support production schedules and maintenance needs. Essential Skills Mechanical knowledge of equipment, including design, operation, repair, and maintenance. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings. Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with 480-volt systems. Troubleshooting knowledge of motors, pumps, hydraulics, digital sensors, limit switches, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical AC/DC drives. Practical knowledge of electrical troubleshooting practices. Strong problem-solving skills, using logic and reasoning to determine causes of operating errors. Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment. Ability to perform welding as needed for maintenance and repair tasks. Comfort working with forklifts, overhead cranes, and heavy industrial machinery. Willingness and ability to work overtime and off shifts as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization methodologies. Experience using a computerized maintenance work order system. Ability to communicate clearly during shift handovers and in maintenance documentation. Comfort working in a team-based maintenance environment across multiple shifts. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility that is described as very quiet and clean. The schedule consists of 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, for a 60-hour workweek with weekly pay. The maintenance team structure includes two technicians on days, two on nights, and one on the weekend shift, providing a collaborative and supportive team environment. You will work around forklifts, overhead cranes, and other industrial equipment, using company-provided tools and uniforms. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a strong focus on maintaining a well-ordered work area. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Anderson, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $64480.00/yr. Health, Dental, vision, 401k match 10%.
