"Making the elderly happy, that is what counts" was a saying of the Little Sisters of the Poor foundress Saint Jeanne Jugan. Central to this philosophy is the promotion of a holistic approach for our Residents in an atmosphere of kindness and respect in creating a family spirit.
JOB OBJECTIVE
The Maintenance Technician assists the department in maintaining the facility and providing a safe functional, sanitary, and comfortable environment by assuring that the ventilation, fresh air, electrical and mechanical systems, water supply, and sewage disposal are maintained in accordance with recognized safety standards, state/federal codes and local ordinances meeting the standards and philosophy of the facility and policies/procedures that govern the facility.
JOB STANDARDS
The Maintenance Technician must have: High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience Associate's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus Four or more years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some HVAC experience and vacuum furnace experience, preferred Must be highly motivated and able to work independently Excellent customer service skills Education sufficient to read, write, and speak as needed for the job, and a willingness to learn and follow directions and communicate effectively. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize assigned tasks Some general mechanical skills and aptitudes; a working knowledge of plant equipment and machinery preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Performing highly diversified duties to install and maintain the facility's equipment Providing emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performing scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment Able to execute mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service Diagnosing problems, replacing or repairing parts, testing and making adjustments Fulfilling regular preventive maintenance on machines and equipment Complying with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas Observe and report any non-functioning areas or equipment in the Home. Help with the upkeep and safety of the grounds including trash pickup, snow removal and ice control, except that performed under service contract. Make simple carpentry repairs, paint walls, equipment, outside areas/any areas on the premises. Support the maintenance supervisor by making inspections to locate leaks and help to lift into position and attach pipes and fixtures. Keep maintenance shop and any work area clean and in good order; clean, lubricate and store maintenance tools and equipment. Maintain confidentiality of all Resident, departmental and organizational information. Protect Residents rights and personal healthcare information.
