Job Description
Looking for an exciting summer job opportunity? We are seeking a seasonal, part-time Sewing Camp Instructor to join our Youth Central program. In this role, the Sewing Instructor will teach a beginner age-appropriate sewing course that inspires student's creative processes and self-expression through learning the skills and fundamentals of sewing. This is a seasonal, part-time position summer 2026 : The successful candidate will create a fun learning environment that, not only fosters inclusion, but inspires campers to imagine and create new possibilities, individually and collaboratively, through the creative art of sewing. Sewing Bootcamp Instructors are expected to deliver on the following core responsibilities: Plan and teach compelling, age-appropriate beginner sewing curriculum for grade-level 9 th -12 th Be knowledgeable of dietary restrictions and allergies to ensure appropriate snacks are provided to each student Be knowledgeable of students not permitted to sign themselves out of class, or be photographed Be aware of student's limitations; physical and emotional well-being Maintains all relevant tools and equipment Keep the work area and surrounding environment clean and tidy Manage risk, supervise participants, and model safe best practices while working Keep inventory of materials and supplies, and clearly communicate the need for additional purchases in a timely manner. Models professionalism and accountability by adhering to the dress code and college policies and arriving to camp on time Responsibility and supervision of students during drop off, pick up and classroom/camp time Ability to multi-task, be persistent, and resolve conflicts as they arise Comfort and ability to communicate with students, parents/caregivers and faculty/staff in a professional manner Required to complete the college's ongoing compliance training in a timely manner Any additional duties, responsibilities issued by the Program Assistant and Assistant/Executive Directors, as needed Associate's Degree or higher; must have proven experience in the subject matter Minimum 3+ years of middle/high school teaching experience required; teaching experience can be in a school setting, after school program and/or business Strong organization, planning and communication skills Ability and willingness to be committed to camps scheduled (spring/fall weekends, summer) Dependable, approachable, patient, and sensitive to the needs of a diverse group of students Ability to travel to Central Piedmont campuses with reliable transportation Must be willing to conduct a background check Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
Preferred Qualifications :
CPR/Basic First Aid certification a plusWorking Conditions:
Classroom, studio setting; working with sewing machines and needles, fabric, glue, iron and other sewing materials Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally required to kneel, bend down or crouch.Similar remote jobs
