Job Description:
The Shop Technician operates and maintains safe, clean interdisciplinary fabrication shops for the College of Visual and Performing Arts. The focus of this position is on utilizing and implementing wood, metal, and plastic fabrication equipment, and a demonstrated working knowledge of digital fabrication techniques that could be used in traditional practices. They operate in spaces where students and faculty are engaged in advanced fabrication and materials research. They function to give students an intimidation-free and safe learning environment, equipped with modern technologies in support of the curriculum, with which they can research, explore, and create through various materials, processes, and techniques This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.
