Wood products manufacturing shop helper

Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Wood Products Manufacturing Shop Helper to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assist with the production of high-quality wood products by supporting skilled carpenters and woodworking specialists. Your energetic approach and commitment to safety will help ensure smooth operations on the shop floor, contributing to the creation of durable, precise, and beautiful wood items. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in woodworking, construction materials, and shop operations while working in a fast-paced environment dedicated to craftsmanship and quality. Responsibilities Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of woodworking machines such as saws, sanders, and drills to ensure efficient production. Support carpenters and technicians by handling materials, measuring, cutting, and assembling wood components according to construction plans and technical drawings. Prepare raw materials including wood framing, siding, trim, drywall, and other construction-related materials for processing or installation. Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, disposing of scrap materials, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Use hand tools and power tools for woodworking tasks such as measuring, cutting, sanding, caulking, and fixture installation. Assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks or storage areas while adhering to proper lifting techniques for heavy lifting tasks. Follow safety procedures related to power tool use, rebar installation, plastering, stucco application, mold remediation support, flooring installation, and other construction activities. Qualifications Prior experience in construction estimating, blueprint reading, or carpentry is highly desirable. Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in woodworking and residential carpentry projects. Knowledge of construction plans and interpreting technical drawings accurately. Experience working on construction sites or in the restoration industry is a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during assembly or remodeling tasks. Basic understanding of drywall installation, caulking techniques, siding application, door hanging, or fixture installation is preferred. Strong commitment to safety standards including power tool safety protocols and proper handling of woodworking machines. Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude towards learning new skills such as framing carpentry or mold remediation.
