Full Job Description Job Description and Requirements:
The Cabinetmaker is at the core of what clients love and expect from Crane by Northeast custom woodworking. By combining art, science and experience, the Cabinetmaker consistently produces elevated custom cabinetry and millwork that meets or exceeds customer expectations. They pair expert use of machinery to match the precise details found in architectural blueprints and drafting with specialty shaping, finishing, and assembly that may only be produced by hand. Final assembly of all components and staging the finished products allows the Cabinetmaker to ensure the highest quality standards in every delivery. Other responsibilities may be assigned and additional training provided over time. This position reports to the Production Director. Responsibilities specific to the
Cabinetmaker:
Uphold and model workplace safety, tool care, and safe material handling. Clean tools and work area daily to ensure a safe, productive work environment at all times. Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn during machine operation, finishing and all hazardous activities. Ensure machine guards are used when available. Interpret detailed architectural drawings, blueprints, and CAD-based shop drawings for production execution. Understand how design details influence methods and sequencing. Select and prepare appropriate lumber, veneers, and sheet goods for each project. Expertly operate and maintain advanced woodworking machinery (planers, jointers, shapers, CNC equipment, saws) to achieve exact specifications. Perform high-level handwork including specialty joinery, custom shaping, veneering, carving, and fine finishing. Lead in the assembly of custom cabinetry, millwork, and furniture to meet exact design and structural requirements. Prepare finished products for installation, including testing operation and alignment of all moving parts. Ensure quality control at each stage of production, correcting defects and verifying adherence to design standards. Continuously learn, innovate and refine methods to improve efficiency and craftsmanship. Responsibilities of every
Associate:
Enthusiasm to greet customers anywhere on company property or customer job sites. Maintain a positive, productive work environment through friendly, respectful relationships with customers & co-workers. Execution of daily operational duties including: product organization, shop cleanliness and inventory cycle counts. Keep all machinery, equipment, and tools clean and in good working order for safe usage. Reports all issues regarding safety, waste, damage, equipment, accidents or customer concerns promptly to a member of Management. Inform Operations Director promptly of suspected inventory shortage.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of professional woodworking or millwork experience, with demonstrated expertise in custom cabinetry and fine woodworking. Strong background in specialty joinery, veneering, custom shaping, finishing, and assembly. Proven ability to interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and CAD-based shop drawings. Mastery of woodworking tools, machinery, and techniques, including both modern equipment (CNC, shapers, jointers, planers, table saws) and traditional hand tools. Manages conflict, solves problems and overcomes obstacles Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines without compromising quality. Ability to stand for up to 8 hours with repetitive bending and lifting up to 50 lbs. Commitment to safety, proper tool maintenance, and a clean, organized work environment.
