POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced High-End Custom Cabinetmaker / Millworker to join our architectural millwork team. This position is for a skilled craftsperson capable of producing exceptional custom cabinetry and architectural millwork from shop drawings through final assembly. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with high-end residential and architectural millwork and understands the level of precision, fit, finish, and attention to detail required for luxury custom work. This is not a production cabinet shop position. Our work consists of highly detailed, often one-of-a-kind projects requiring strong woodworking skills, problem-solving ability, and a thorough understanding of traditional and modern millwork construction. The successful candidate takes pride in their craft, works efficiently and independently, and understands that quality is measured in the details.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Required 5+ years of professional custom cabinetmaking or architectural millwork experience. Demonstrated experience producing high-end custom cabinetry and architectural millwork . Advanced woodworking and fabrication skills. Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings. Strong knowledge of cabinetry and millwork construction methods. Strong knowledge of hardwoods, veneers, plywood, MDF, laminates, and specialty materials. Experience with furniture-quality joinery. Strong understanding of cabinet hardware and installation. Excellent dimensional accuracy. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong problem-solving ability. Ability to work independently. Ability to manage assigned work within project schedules. Commitment to producing consistently high-quality work. Preferred If applicable, please attach a portfolio when applying. Experience with luxury residential millwork. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES

Custom Cabinetry & Architectural Millwork Fabricate and assemble high-end custom millwork including: Custom cabinetry Kitchens Vanities Built-ins Libraries Bars Architectural wall paneling Fireplace surrounds Doors and jambs Moldings and architectural trim Solid wood components Veneered panels and cabinetry Specialty furniture-style pieces Commercial and residential architectural millwork One-of-a-kind custom fabrication Work may range from individual furniture-quality components to complete rooms of architectural millwork.

SHOP DRAWINGS & PROJECT INTERPRETATION

Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, elevations, sections, and details. Understand dimensions, tolerances, construction methods, and material specifications. Review drawings thoroughly before beginning fabrication. Identify missing information, dimensional conflicts, or constructability issues before material is cut. Verify critical dimensions throughout fabrication. Communicate questions or concerns before proceeding when information is unclear. Work from current approved drawings and revisions. Understand how individual components relate to the overall installation. The cabinetmaker is expected to think through the complete fabrication and assembly process before beginning work .

CRAFTSMANSHIP & QUALITY

Our work requires an exceptionally high level of craftsmanship.

The cabinetmaker is responsible for:

Accurate fabrication and assembly. Tight, consistent joinery. Clean miters and joints. Consistent door and drawer reveals. Proper grain direction and material selection. Accurate hardware installation. Proper fit and alignment of components. Clean sanding and preparation for finishing. Protecting finished and prefinished materials throughout fabrication. Inspecting their own work before it moves to the next stage of production. Finished work must meet the standards expected in high-end residential and luxury architectural environments . Quality is the responsibility of the craftsperson producing the work—not simply the person inspecting it afterward.

VENEER & SOLID WOOD

Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of: Hardwood selection Grain matching Solid wood movement Veneer fabrication Book matching Slip matching Sequence matching Veneer substrates Solid wood edging Edge banding Mitered construction Applied moldings Custom profiles Furniture-quality joinery The cabinetmaker should understand how material selection and grain orientation affect the appearance of the completed project. Particular care is expected when working with figured veneers, specialty hardwoods, and expensive or difficult-to-replace materials .

HARDWARE & ASSEMBLY

Experience should include installation and adjustment of: Concealed hinges Drawer slides Specialty cabinet hardware Architectural hardware Door hardware Adjustable shelving systems Integrated lighting components Specialty mechanisms and accessories Hardware should be installed accurately and consistently, with doors, drawers, and moving components operating smoothly and maintaining proper reveals.

FINISH PREPARATION

The cabinetmaker is responsible for delivering work to the finishing department properly prepared for finishing.

Responsibilities include:

Proper sanding Surface preparation Filling and repair where appropriate Breaking edges consistently Identifying glue residue Protecting finished surfaces Understanding stain-grade versus paint-grade preparation Coordinating assemblies that require pre-finishing Maintaining clean surfaces and components throughout fabrication A high-quality finish begins with high-quality preparation.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Custom millwork frequently requires judgment and creative problem solving. The cabinetmaker should be capable of: Identifying potential fabrication problems. Developing practical solutions. INSTALLATION AWARENESS

Even when primarily working in the shop, the cabinetmaker must understand how their work will ultimately be installed.

This includes:

Designing assemblies for reasonable transportation and handling. Properly labeling components. Preparing hardware and loose parts for installation. Communicating unusual installation requirements.
