About Scobis Millwork + Design Scobis Millwork + Design creates custom wood doors and architectural millwork for luxury residential and high end commercial projects. About the Position This is an entry level position for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine interest in learning woodworking craftsmanship. Previous professional woodworking experience is not required. We are willing to train someone who is dependable, follows instructions, takes pride in their work, and wants to develop valuable hands on skills. You will work alongside experienced members of our shop team while learning how custom wood doors, trim, moldings, and other architectural wood products are made. Responsibilities Assist with the construction of custom wood doors and architectural millwork Learn to measure, mark, cut, shape, sand, glue, and assemble wood components Learn the safe and proper use of woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools Prepare materials and parts for experienced woodworkers Sand and prepare wood surfaces for assembly or finishing Follow shop drawings, measurements, written instructions, and verbal direction Carefully handle hardwoods, finished components, glass, hardware, and other materials Check completed work for accuracy, smoothness, fit, and overall quality Keep work areas, tools, and machinery clean, safe, and organized Assist with general shop and production tasks as needed Accept instruction and feedback while continuing to improve your skills Qualifications Excellent attendance, dependability, and work ethic Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work Interest in woodworking, craftsmanship, construction, or manufacturing Willingness to learn new machinery, tools, and techniques Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks carefully and efficiently Strong practical math skills, including fractions, decimals, measurements, and basic calculations Ability to accurately read a tape measure or willingness to learn Ability to work well with others and ask questions when something is unclear Ability to remain productive while performing detailed or repetitive tasks Previous shop, construction, manufacturing, or hands on experience is helpful but not required Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work on your feet throughout the workday Ability to bend, reach, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive movements Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and position heavy lumber, doors, and materials, including items exceeding 50 pounds Ability to safely maneuver large or awkward items independently or with team assistance or material handling equipment Ability to work around wood dust and machinery and wear required personal protective equipment Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation What Success Looks Like A successful Entry Level Woodworker shows up ready to work, listens carefully, asks thoughtful questions, and takes pride in improving each day. You will be expected to work safely, handle materials carefully, and focus on completing work correctly and efficiently. As your knowledge and abilities grow, you will be given opportunities to perform more advanced woodworking tasks and operate additional machinery.
