Job Description
Overview Armadillo Woodworks is a custom architectural and ornamental woodwork shop serving high-end residential architects and interior designers in the New York market. We work on the kind of projects most millwork shops never see, for clients who notice the difference. We're looking for a skilled Shop Millworker/Fabricator to join our hands-on production team and help bring these exceptional projects to life from the floor up. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise in carpentry and fabrication while contributing to inspiring renovation and construction projects. We are committed to providing a paid position that values your craftsmanship and dedication. You'll be working directly in our shop, reading and interpreting blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical drawings to produce custom architectural millwork to the highest standards. From building accurate cut lists to cutting, shaping, assembling, and applying custom finishes, you'll be involved at every stage of the fabrication process. You'll collaborate closely with the Shop Manager to ensure quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery — and you'll be working on the kind of custom pieces whose craftsmanship gets noticed. Duties Fabricate custom millwork, cabinetry, and fixtures using a variety of hand tools, power tools, CNC machines, and woodworking equipment to meet project specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately produce components aligned with design intent. Install cabinetry, fixtures, doors, moldings, and other woodwork with precision to ensure quality finishes. Maintain a clean and organized workspace; perform heavy lifting when required; adhere strictly to safety protocols on all job sites. Create detailed cut lists based on project drawings and specifications. Cut, shape, assemble, and finish wood materials to meet custom project requirements. Work with veneers and specialty materials to achieve high-end custom finishes. Identify and select appropriate materials for each project based on drawings and the shop manager's direction. Collaborate with the Shop Manager to ensure workflow, quality standards, and deadlines are met. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times. Support the team in upholding Armadillo Woodworks' standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Skills Previous experience in a production millwork or custom fabrication shop is required. You're comfortable reading technical and fabrication drawings and can translate them into precise, high-quality work. Experience working with veneers and custom finish materials is a strong plus. You take pride in your craft, work well within a team, and understand that in a shop like ours, the details are everything.
