Field Measure Technician (Templator) Sheridan HR Clarence Center, NY Job Details Full-time $23 - $25 an hour 2 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Qualifications Customer communication Outdoor work High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Job Summary Our Clerance Center, NY based client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Field Measure Technician (Templator) to join their stone fabrication team. This role is responsible for traveling to job sites to take precise digital and manual measurements of cabinetry, walls, and existing surfaces in preparation for the fabrication of granite, quartz, marble, quartzite, and other natural and engineered stone countertops. The Templator serves as the critical link between the customer's space and our fabrication shop, ensuring every cut, seam, and cutout is accurate before material ever touches the saw. Key Responsibilities Travel to residential and commercial job sites to template countertops, vanities, islands, and other surfaces using laser templating systems (e.g., Proliner, MS5000, or similar) and/or traditional template materials. Verify cabinet installation is complete, level, and ready for templating before proceeding; communicate any installation issues to the customer, builder, or project manager. Accurately capture all dimensions, overhangs, seam locations, edge profiles, and special features such as sink cutouts, cooktop cutouts, backsplashes, and outlet/appliance accommodations. Confirm sink, faucet, cooktop, and appliance specifications and cutout requirements with the customer or installer prior to finalizing the template. Identify and document any site conditions that could affect fabrication or installation, including out-of-square walls, uneven cabinets, or structural obstructions. Photograph job sites and document notes thoroughly to support the fabrication and installation teams. Upload and process templates using digitizing/templating software, ensuring files are accurate and complete before submission to the fabrication shop. Communicate professionally and courteously with homeowners, contractors, and designers while on-site, representing the company in a customer-facing role. Review material selections with customers on-site when needed, including slab pattern, seam placement, and finish (polished, honed, leathered, etc.). Coordinate scheduling with dispatch/production to ensure templating appointments are completed efficiently and on time. Maintain templating equipment, tools, and company vehicle in good working condition. Follow all safety protocols when working on active job sites, including new construction. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience as a templator, field measure technician, or in countertop/cabinetry installation strongly preferred. Experience with laser measuring/templating systems is a plus; willingness to train on company-specific equipment required. Ability to read architectural and cabinet drawings/blueprints. Strong attention to detail and a high degree of measurement accuracy - errors at this stage carry directly into fabrication. Comfortable using tablets, templating software, and basic digital tools. Excellent communication and customer service skills; comfortable interacting directly with homeowners and trade partners. Valid driver's license and clean driving record; ability to travel to multiple job sites daily within the service area. Basic knowledge of natural and engineered stone materials (granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, Dekton, etc.) preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry templating equipment (typically 20-40 lbs). Ability to kneel, bend, crouch, and work in tight cabinet spaces for extended periods. Ability to climb stairs and work in active construction environments. Ability to stand and move throughout job sites for several hours per visit. Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment This position requires daily travel to residential and commercial job sites, including occupied homes and active construction sites. The role involves regular driving between locations and direct interaction with customers, builders, and trade contractors. CompensationBenefits $23 - $25 per hour + medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick and much more.
