Description Essential Job Functions:

Studies customer prints and determines components needed to make patterns Makes wood patterns in compliance with the customer's specifications Mounts the pattern on a board, rigs it to the flask size and adds the gating Sends patterns to the Molding Departments to make sample castings; makes changes to the patterns as required by foundry inspection and/or by the customer Makes on-line repairs to patterns as requested or required Makes wooden bottom boards as required by the production process Repairs and/or paints core boxes as required Rigs shell core boxes to fit shell core machines Builds molding boxes if required by the no-bake process Checks problem castings to determine needed modifications to patterns Actively participates in training with Pattern Maker & Riggers and/or Product Development Manager Keeps a log of hours completed for training schedule Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to maintain quality control of processes and products. General Functions Maintain a clean work area. Carry out all duties and responsibilities in full accordance with the Company's policies and procedures.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

Record time and production each day using Shop Floor Manager or Production Sheet. Keep accurate count of cores/castings/molds completed. Participate in cross-training when required or requested. Perform other related duties as required or requested.

Pattern gating questions should be referred to the Product Development Manager Sample tickets must accompany new or re-worked patterns or coreboxes to their respective departments During the course of any pattern repair work, check equipment for dents, nicks, flat spots, lettering, etc. Repair as necessary to eliminate scrap or re-work Equipment Used to

Safety Rules & Functions:

Be committed to safety. Do not attempt to perform a function that you have not been trained on. If unsure . . . ASK. Maintain clear aisles (nothing blocking exits, fire extinguishers, etc.). Check equipment prior to use and notify Supervisor or Leader immediately if defective. Follow all rules of the Lockout/Tagout procedures when performing preventive maintenance, making adjustments, or assisting with equipment repair. Dust collector must be on when running all vented equipment Solvents, glues, paints, aerosols & other flammables must be kept in metal safety cans with flame arrestor inside. Such cans have spring-loaded lids.

Machine Guards:

Radial saws must have blade guards on each side of blade and automatic retraction mechanism in place before operating. Table saws must have guards in place at all times Band saws must have guard over entire non-cutting portion of blade before operating Grinding wheel tool rests must be within 1/8" of wheel surface at all times. Tongue guards may not have more than ¼" clearance and the spindle nut must be covered Any tools with mushroomed heads, loose handles, etc. are strictly prohibited and should be replaced or repaired. Only approved air nozzles/blow guns with safety tips are to be used; Air nozzles/blow guns are not to be altered in any manner. Do not leave machines running while unattended Loose clothing may not be worn when operating equipment Air may not be used for cleaning purposes on equipment, yourself, or others. Notify your Supervisor, Leader or EHS Department when a leak, spill, or other release occurs. Clean up spills and leaks promptly using dry methods (e.g., sand, absorbents).
