Cabinetry plays a major role in both the function and feel of a home, and our Design team helps turn ideas into clear, buildable plans that support the way our customers want to live. The Cabinet Designer supports the cabinetry design process from initial layouts and field measurements through final documentation, ordering, and coordination. This role works closely with the Cabinet Specialist and collaborates across Interior Design, Architecture, Project Advising, Estimating, and Production to ensure cabinetry plans are accurate, organized, and aligned with the overall project. Cabinet Design & Development Create and update cabinetry layouts, plans, elevations, and details for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, laundry rooms, offices, bars, built-ins, and other residential spaces. Translate customer goals, field measurements, appliance specifications, storage needs, and design direction into functional and buildable cabinetry concepts. Account for clearances, panels, fillers, trim, ventilation, appliance requirements, installation details, and other technical considerations that impact the final design. Field Measurements & Existing Conditions Visit customers' homes to complete cabinetry-related field measurements and verify existing conditions. Document dimensions, appliances, utilities, venting, obstructions, and other details that may affect cabinetry design or installation. Identify potential conflicts early and communicate concerns related to appliance fit, clearances, ventilation, field conditions, or installation. Documentation & Ordering Prepare and maintain accurate cabinetry drawings, finish information, appliance specifications, selections, pricing details, and project documentation. Process cabinetry orders with vendors and verify dimensions, configurations, finishes, quantities, accessories, and approved selections. Review vendor confirmations for accuracy and communicate discrepancies or concerns promptly to the Cabinet Specialist and appropriate internal teams. Team Collaboration Work closely with the Cabinet Specialist for cabinetry design direction, technical review, training, and mentorship. Collaborate with Interior Design, Architecture, Project Advisors, Estimating, and Production to keep scope, drawings, selections, pricing, and project details aligned. Participate in design reviews, site visits, field measurements, vendor reviews, selection meetings, and project handoffs as needed. Learning & Development Learn and apply COCOON's cabinetry standards, preferred product lines, vendor requirements, design processes, and documentation expectations. Participate in regular reviews with the Cabinet Specialist and apply feedback to improve technical knowledge, design judgment, and accuracy. Continue building expertise in cabinetry construction, field measuring, appliance requirements, product knowledge, ordering, installation, and customer recommendations. Process & Project Management Track assigned tasks, project updates, and deadlines while keeping cabinetry files, drawings, measurements, specifications, and notes organized and current. Take ownership of assigned work and complete updates accurately, consistently, and on time. Maintain current software catalogs and help identify documentation gaps, recurring questions, or opportunities to improve the cabinetry design process. What You'll Bring Approximately 2-3 years of cabinetry, kitchen and bath, interior design, or related residential design experience preferred, along with an understanding of floor plans, elevations, dimensions, and residential construction.
