In this role, you will handle the entire process turnkey —from raw sheet goods and solid maple face frames all the way through fabrication, door building, prep sanding, and professional spray finishing. We are looking for a true craftsman who takes pride in high-end execution, maintains tight tolerances, and is comfortable owning both bench assembly and spray booth operations.
Key Responsibilities Fabrication & Assembly:
Break down raw sheet goods, mill solid hardwood (maple face frames, edging, moldings), construct 5-piece cabinet doors/drawer fronts, and assemble custom cabinet boxes and face frames to exact specifications.Prep & Sanding:
Perform detailed surface prep, grain blending, edge breaking, and progressive grit sanding to prepare raw wood and composite materials for high-grade finishes.Spray Finishing & Painting:
Execute complete finishing schedules in our spray booth—including primers, stains, paint coats, and protective topcoats (waterborne/2K polyurethanes).Quality Control:
Inspect all components from raw milling to final cure, ensuring seamless joint fitment, smooth finish surfaces (no runs, orange peel, or debris), and dimensional accuracy.Shop Maintenance & Safety:
Maintain shop equipment, manage spray booth filters and guns (cleaning/breakdown), and ensure safe handling of finishing materials and dust extraction. Required Qualifications & Skills 3+ years of experience in custom cabinet making, bench carpentry, or architectural millwork. Proven spray finishing experience with cup systems, airless/HVLP spray equipment, and high-end wood coatings/paints. Ability to read cut lists, shop drawings, and elevations accurately with minimal supervision. Strong knowledge of joinery techniques, cabinet hardware installation (soft-close slides, concealed hinges), and door construction.Comfort operating shop machinery:
table saws, edgebanders, shapers/routers, and wide-belt or orbital sanders. High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and ability to lift 50+ lbs (sheet goods/finished cabinets). Preferred Qualifications Experience with 2K waterborne polyurethane systems and spray booth setups. Familiarity with CNC-nested workflows or automated cabinet machining.
