Job Description

KDR Wood Design Co. is seeking an experienced Cabinet Finisher/Painter to join our team. We build high-end custom cabinetry and millwork, and we are looking for an individual who takes pride in producing flawless finishes that meet luxury standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience sanding, staining, priming, painting, and applying conversion varnish and other cabinet-grade finishes. Attention to detail, consistency, and pride in craftsmanship are essential. Responsibilities Sand and prepare cabinetry, doors, drawer fronts, trim, and millwork for finishing Apply stains, sealers, primers, paints, and clear topcoats using professional spray equipment Mix and match stains and paints to achieve consistent color and sheen Inspect finished products for defects and perform touch-ups as needed Maintain exceptional quality standards throughout the finishing process Properly clean and maintain spray guns, pumps, spray booth equipment, and finishing tools Maintain inventory of stains, paints, catalysts, solvents, and finishing supplies Follow all safety procedures related to finishing materials and equipment Work closely with production staff to ensure projects remain on schedule Assist with loading finished cabinetry while protecting completed surfaces from damage Maintain a clean and organized finishing department Qualifications Minimum 5 years of professional cabinet finishing or woodworking finishing experience Experience spraying conversion varnish, lacquer, polyurethane, waterborne coatings, and stains Ability to identify and correct finish imperfections before delivery Experience operating HVLP and air-assisted airless spray systems Knowledge of wood species, grain characteristics, and stain behavior Ability to read shop drawings and production paperwork Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing premium-quality work Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for extended periods Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Preferred Qualifications Experience in a custom cabinet shop Experience color matching stains and paints Experience finishing specialty woods including walnut, white oak, hickory, maple, and cherry Knowledge of finishing room maintenance and quality control procedures What We're Looking For We are looking for a craftsman—not simply a painter. Compensation is competitive and based on experience. Top pay is available for highly qualified candidates with proven cabinet finishing expertise.

$20.00 - $35.00 per hour
