Job Description

Position:
Coating Plant Operations Leadman Job Summary:
The Production Lead Man ensures coated pipes meet customer requirements and process specifications and completes all SAP-related entries to accurately record production information. This role maintains a continuous, uninterrupted flow of pipe toward the outbound skid using material handling equipment and diabolo conveyor rollers. As the final point of control at the Final Table, the Production Lead Man is accountable for accurate pipe identification and traceability at all times, and for expediting activities at the final bench to keep production both qualitatively and quantitatively on target.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Carry out pipe inspection and documentation safely and efficiently, in accordance with work instructions and job safety analysis (JSA). Expedite all activities related to production and quality, ensuring the Final Table never holds up production. Verify that all interlocks on material handling equipment and diabolo conveyor rollers are functioning before performing pipe transfer operations. Perform work in a timely manner to keep the coating line running without stoppages or backups. Ensure required measuring instruments and data sheets are available at the station at all times. Verify calibration of instruments prior to the start of each shift. Use only calibrated measuring instruments when performing inspection activities. Complete all SAP-related entries for each pipe and accurately fill out data sheets. Ensure proper pipe identification, traceability, and color codification before pipes proceed to the outbound skid. Maintain coating continuity and perform coating repairs in accordance with process sheets. Wear all PPE required by the JSA and the job. Operate only from the platform where the control panel is mounted. Never cross a conveyor roller line or stand between pipes while they are in movement. Ensure no personnel are within the path of pipe movement at any time. Confirm the surrounding area is clear and safe before moving any pipe. Report any wear, breakdown, or malfunction of diabolo conveyor rollers or material handling equipment to the shift supervisor. Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the working area. Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures whenever maintenance work is performed in the area. Communicate with relevant stations to maintain overall line productivity. Safely assist production supervisors with operational duties as assigned. Forklift operation ability is preferred.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Leads a team of 20-30 employees within designated job responsibilities to achieve targeted production. Supervisory duties are carried out in accordance with company policy and applicable law, and include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
Education or Experience:
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma and 1-2 years of relevant experience, or a suitable combination of education and experience for an outstanding candidate with demonstrated excellence on the job. Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Final Table Inspector required. Language Skills
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; able to write simple correspondence and effectively report information. Mathematical Skills
  • Able to count and perform simple math functions, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Reasoning Ability
  • Able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; able to solve problems and operate the control panel swiftly. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • None required.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills or aptitude for the same are a must for this position. Knowledge of SAP is preferable.
