Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Travel Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in sterile processing, medical instrument sterilization, and infection prevention protocols. As a Travel Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient reprocessing of medical instruments and equipment across various healthcare facilities. Your expertise in sterile technique, instrument handling, and infection control will be vital in supporting patient safety and operational excellence. Duties Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments and medical devices in accordance with established protocols. Reprocess endoscopes and other complex medical equipment following manufacturer guidelines and infection prevention standards. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical instruments, ensuring proper stock rotation and documentation. Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance activities. Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all sterilized instruments meet surgical and procedural needs. Follow safety protocols related to biohazard handling, chemical use, and equipment operation to promote a safe working environment. Stay current with healthcare infection prevention and control practices through ongoing training and professional development. Requirements Proven experience in sterile processing, including medical instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization techniques. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures to accurately handle specialized instruments. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining sterile environments. Ability to operate medical sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, washer-disinfectors, and endoscope reprocessors effectively. Strong understanding of medical terminology related to surgical instruments and procedures. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory efficiently while maintaining detailed documentation. Prior experience with infection control practices within healthcare settings is highly desirable. Certification in sterile processing or central sterile services is preferred but not required; relevant training will be provided for qualified candidates.
