Position Summary The Head Washroom Operator leads daily washroom operations in Tritex Services' commercial laundry facility. This is a hands-on production leadership position responsible for the proper processing of soiled textiles, wash quality, chemical usage, equipment operation, production flow, safety, staff training and washroom record keeping. The Head Washroom Operator oversees soil sorting, washing and extraction activities while coordinating closely with Production, Maintenance, finishing and drying teams, and chemical vendors to maintain safe, efficient and consistent washroom performance. This is a full-time position. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWashroom Operations and Production Flow Oversee the washroom process, including soil sorting, washing and extraction. Operate, monitor and adjust large-capacity washers, extractors and dryers. Ensure loads are processed according to priority and order demands, fabric type, soil level, customer requirements and approved wash formulas. Maintain proper use of detergents, bleach, alkali, neutralizers, softeners and other wash chemicals. Track wash formulas, cycle times and water and energy usage to support efficient washroom operation. Assign daily workloads and oversee production flow to meet established schedules and downstream production needs. Quality Control Inspect washed items to ensure stains, soils and odors are removed to established quality standards. Separate and manage items requiring rewashing, stain removal or special treatment. Monitor finished wash quality to help maintain proper color, texture and product longevity. Track rejected or rewash percentages and implement corrective action when quality standards are not met. Communicate recurring quality concerns, wash-process issues and special customer requirements to management. Equipment Care and Maintenance Coordination Perform routine operating checks on washers, water systems, pumps, dryers and other washroom equipment. Report equipment malfunctions promptly to Maintenance and assist with troubleshooting as needed. Ensure washroom equipment is kept clean and that required preventive maintenance practices are followed. Communicate recurring equipment problems, downtime and operating concerns to Production and Maintenance leadership. Coordinate with Maintenance and chemical vendors for technical support as needed. Chemical Management, Safety and Compliance Monitor inventory and usage of detergents, alkali, softeners, bleaches and other washroom chemicals. Ensure chemicals are properly stored, labeled and handled in accordance with company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements. Follow and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment and other established safety protocols. Identify and report washroom hazards, unsafe conditions or chemical-handling concerns promptly. Promote safe work practices and proper chemical handling throughout washroom operations. Record Keeping and Department Coordination Maintain washroom logs including formulas used, loads processed, water and chemical usage, downtime and other required operating information. Document rejected or rewash activity and corrective actions as required. Report operational issues, production delays, equipment downtime and quality concerns to management promptly. Work closely with the soil sort team to ensure proper garment and linen classification before processing. Communicate with finishing and drying teams to maintain smooth production flow and appropriate work priorities. Coordinate with Production, Maintenance and chemical vendors when washroom conditions or requirements affect overall plant operations. Qualifications and Competencies Prior experience in commercial laundry washroom operations, industrial laundry production or a comparable processing environment. Working knowledge of industrial washers, extractors, dryers, wash formulas and textile-processing requirements. Working knowledge of laundry chemicals, chemical handling practices and the ability to monitor chemical usage and inventory. Ability to inspect wash quality, identify processing problems and take practical corrective action. Demonstrated ability to lead, train and organize employees while maintaining production flow and accountability. Working knowledge of lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment and general industrial safety practices. Strong communication, organization and record-keeping skills with reliable attendance and the ability to work the schedule necessary to support washroom operations. Physical and Work Requirements This position works primarily in an active commercial laundry washroom and production environment. The employee must be able to move throughout the facility; stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach and use stairs as needed; operate and monitor industrial laundry equipment; and handle textiles and production materials consistent with the essential functions of the position. Work may involve heat, humidity, noise, steam, water, moving equipment and laundry chemicals. The employee must use required personal protective equipment and be able to perform hands-on washroom and production support, with or without reasonable accommodation.
