Job Description

Summary:
Under general supervision, perform basic maintenance and repair duties throughout the warehouse, including work related to batteries and chargers, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
Essential Functions:
Maintain batteries and chargers in safe working order in accordance with OSHA standards. Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on batteries, chargers, and related equipment as needed. Facilitate and manage the battery-changing process in the battery room. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and battery changers as required. Clean and lubricate bearings, gears, and other machinery parts using appropriate tools and materials. Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition and use them safely as instructed. Assist with testing safety equipment (e.g., exit signs, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems) to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards. Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records. Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 6S standards. Follow attendance policy and report to work on time, ready for assigned shifts. Perform other related duties as assigned to support facility maintenance operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic mechanical aptitude required; maintenance or mechanical experience preferred. Strong communication, documentation, and basic mathematical skills. Basic computer skills (email, data entry, internet navigation). Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and on-call assignments.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Vocational or technical training in maintenance or related field preferred. HAZMAT responder training participation may be required. BGDC Distribution is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
