Refinery Technician

Refinery Technician (Night Shift) Chemical Operator | 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM We are seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Refinery Technician to support overnight operations at our glycerin refinery. This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient production through equipment operation, process monitoring, quality control, and preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently on night shift, follows safety protocols rigorously, and takes pride in hands-on technical work. What You'll Be Doing (At a Glance) Operate refinery and field equipment in a glycerin production facility Monitor and adjust processes using Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Watch alarms, process data, and equipment health to keep operations running safely and efficiently Collect quality samples and deliver them to the lab Handle and dose chemicals according to production needs Perform basic preventive maintenance and report mechanical issues Follow all safety procedures—especially around chemicals, heat, steam, and pressurized systems Must‑Have Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Experience or comfort in industrial, mechanical, or construction environments Quality control awareness Ability to lift up to 75 lbs routinely Valid driver's license Basic computer skills Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around industrial equipment Nice‑to‑Have Experience Forklift operation Machine operating or production work Inspection or maintenance experience Hand and power tool use Cleanroom or chemical processing environments Work Schedule & Environment 🕒 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM | 12‑hour rotating shift 🌡 Climate‑controlled areas with some indoor/outdoor work ⚙ Exposure to heat, noise, dust, fumes, steam, and chemicals 👷 PPE required: steel‑toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses (provided) 👥 Approximately 10 operators per shift 👕 Casual dress; uniforms provided later Why You'll Want This Job ✅ 3 weeks of PTO to start ✅ 5% 401(k) match after 1 year ✅ Yearly raises + end‑of‑year cash bonuses ✅ Promotion opportunities within 6-12 months ✅ 7 paid holidays + flex days ✅ Potential tuition reimbursement ✅ Stable overnight schedule with a tight‑knit team Who Thrives Here People who like nights and fewer distractions Hands‑on problem solvers who enjoy mechanical work Safety‑first individuals who want long‑term growth Reliable team players looking for stability and advancement Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nevada, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
