POSITION SUMMARY
The Coating & Finishing (C&F) Operator is responsible for performing a variety of production activities within the Heat Treat, Plating, and Coating Department. This position operates and monitors production equipment, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, and supports efficient manufacturing operations. The C&F Operator is expected to maintain equipment performance, accurately document production information, follow established work instructions, and contribute to a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate and monitor heat treating, plating, coating, and finishing equipment according to established procedures and production requirements. Load and unload materials, components, and chemicals; set machine parameters, scales, and timers to ensure product quality and process efficiency. Perform quality inspections, in-process testing, and accurately record production and process data. Troubleshoot equipment, material, and process issues, reporting concerns to the supervisor and assisting with routine maintenance activities as needed. Monitor production lines, solution levels, and process conditions to maintain safe and efficient operations. Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment as required and maintain necessary certifications. Follow all work instructions, quality standards, safety procedures, environmental requirements, and Hazard Communication (HazCom) guidelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while supporting continuous improvement and production goals.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCES
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months previous manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate production equipment. Ability to perform essential job functions safely and effectively while following work instructions, safety procedures, quality standards, and productivity requirements. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate operational concerns as needed. SKILLS Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement. Knowledge of safe chemical handling practices and Hazard Communication (HazCom) requirements. Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic equipment and process issues. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely around chemicals and manufacturing equipment. Ability to regularly lift and move materials, chemicals and products weighing up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Coating & Finishing Department operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Work conditions may include exposure to heat, noise, dust, chemicals, and other factors common to industrial production settings. Portions of the facility are not climate controlled. Successful candidates should be comfortable working in these conditions while adhering to all safety requirements, environmental guidelines, and PPE standards.
