Job Description

Full job description The Chemical Technician is engaged in the distillation, fermentation, and evaporation processes to produce ethanol from beverage and waste streams delivered to the plant.
Job Duties:
Recording readings on an hourly basis Monitoring and/or adjusting liquid and steam levels for efficient operation. Monitoring the PH of the wastewater discharge, testing product samples using simple lab procedures, recording results of tests. Monitor alcohol processes using computer programming and make critical process decisions independently and safely to maintain process flows. Technical aptitude to learn a complex chemical process and maintain it over time. Maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment. Safely starting, monitoring, and shutting down the Evaporation System. Attendance at safety meetings. Submitting work orders on equipment and facilities requiring maintenance. Ability to connect/disconnect heavy industrial hoses for load-in/load-out purposes. Ability to climb stairs and ladders to observe and test product. Unloading/loading of tanker trucks, railcars, syrup trucks, totes, barrels, and kegs. Carry and distribute bags of chemicals weighting up to 50 pounds. Use tools, arms, and hands to open and close heavy duty vessels and valves to route product thru the distillation process stations. Be able to train and monitor new operators in the process. Can serve as back-up department manager for short periods. Additional duties as assigned pertaining to the operations process.
