PM Certifications/Licenses Required:
Massachusetts Class D Drivers License, Grade 3 Wastewater Operator within 6 months, Grade 2 Collections within one year. SUMMARY The City of Chicopee's Department of Public Work's Pump Stations- Combined Sewer Overflow is hiring a Pump Station Operator who inspects, repairs, and maintains all pumping stations and equipment within the City.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE
Monitors control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage. Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to achieve optimal operating requirements. Operation and maintenance of; pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage. Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings. Collects sewage samples and conducts tests as needed. Operates and maintains power generating equipment to provide electricity for station. Checks Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO) throughout City. Operates the Jones Ferry CSO Facility when active and processes all related documentation. Will be required to make NPDES permit violation reports. Must observe all safety procedures as it relates to pump station operations/maintenance as well as adhere to all City safety policies. Will be required to accept chemical deliveries at the Jones CSO Facility. Inspects, cleans, paints, repairs and maintains all pumping station equipment, vehicles, and equipment. Works as an operational team with Treatment plant, Collection system and Flood Control personnel. Maintains buildings and grounds including but not limited to mowing and painting. Snow removal/snow plowing/snow shoveling is required any time any day from City streets and at all WPC & Pump Station Facilities. ( See attached for full job description )QUALIFICATIONS
