Job Description
The Cannery Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production and processes. This candidate will monitor and maintain process variables associated with cannery production operations. The ability to recognize and a willingness to do whatever it is that each day demands are paramount to success in this position. The Cannery Production Supervisor reports directly to the VP of Operations and Director of QA & Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Monitoring:
- Oversee key production processes, including receiving raw and dry goods, cooking, filling, seaming, sterilization, boxing, and inventory management
- Ensure all production activities align with established process and 3rd party certification parameters.
- Follow GMPs and all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all stages of the canning process.
- Complete and maintain accurate production forms, yield reports, and compliance records.
- Diagnose and resolve process malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
- Work with the Operations Director to develop and adjust production schedules to meet goals.
- Schedule and manage work staff to meet production needs efficiently.
- Record, maintain, and update inventory and canning assemblies in the ERP system.
- Maintain inventory for equipment and supplies used in the production process.
Quality Control:
- Monitor quality standards by adhering to process parameters.
- Identify and rectify deviations to maintain product quality.
- Comply with regulatory requirements, including FDA and other relevant food safety standards Cannery Production Supervisor & Process Controller.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of production lines to identify and address deviations from quality standards.
- Plan and oversee yearly calibrations to ensure equipment accuracy.
- Maintain compliance standards with BRCGS and Organic Certifications.
Maintenance and Safety:
- Maintain the maintenance schedule for all equipment.
- Safely use and handle chemicals and sanitation products to maintain a clean and compliant production environment.
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety protocols to protect employees and equipment.
- Assist in the evaluation and procurement of new equipment and technologies to enhance production capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in food processing or manufacturing.
- Knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation.
- Understanding of relevant thermal process controls and principles.
- Proficiency in data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS
- Safety Engineers License
- Low Lift State Certification
- Process Controller (Federal License)
