Essential Responsibilities1. Set-up, make ready, and operation of the web press.2. Assigns and directs the work of the press crew, considering the limits of each persons experience and ability. Ensures all crewmembers read, understand, and follow the entire work order of every job and resolve all discrepancies.3. Monitors and checks the work of lower-level operators, having formal supervisory responsibilities.4. Ensures that all equipment is functioning satisfactorily; makes minor repairs or reports equipment problems.5. Observe all safety regulations in the plant.

Authority and RelationshipsLead Press Operator works under general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Contacts are with team members and leaders outside of the employee's immediate team. Requires effective participation as a team member.
QualificationsEducation & Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years related experience/training required.
Skills & Abilities Advanced working knowledge of the principles and concepts of printing production. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Requires excellent vision and manual dexterity to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine.
Work Requirements Loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, vibration. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Regular and reliable attendance required.

Non-exemptPosition PurposeResponsible for the productive operation of the web press so that printed products will be delivered as specified and as scheduled. Responsible for assigned crew of pressmen: assigns work, monitors and checks the work of lower level operators. Completes on-the-job training and performance evaluations for assigned crew members with the assistance of the Press Manager.
