Here's what you can expect to do: Monitor, operate, and conduct preventive maintenance of the pumping system and equipment at the water treatment plant to evaluate processes and adjust water levels, pressure, pumps being utilized, and chemical application level for the raw water supply sources. Diagnose and troubleshoot when problems arise, including meter malfunctions, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) failures, and electrical interruptions. Track system consumption, water levels, use of water sources, and electric consumption. Determine and initiate efficient pumping strategies and accesses, monitors, utilizes the control system. Determine pumping schedules based on electrical rates. Perform and request moderate level system repairs and maintenance and initiate the use of generators to supplement pumping functions. Conduct emergency repairs related to pumping, heating, and related equipment. Provide treatment evaluations including taking samples, adding reagents, adjusting pump activities, and conduct bacteria or turbidity tests. Forward results to the laboratory staff for analysis following chain of custody protocols. Assist with security management by monitoring screens, opening entrance gates, reporting alarms and alarm malfunctions, communicating evacuations from worksites, and reporting disturbances to law enforcement as appropriate. Operate intercom and fire notification communication systems. Report hazardous materials release incidences to duty officer or local emergency response team. Also report suspicious activities involving the rail to TSA and local law enforcement. Operate and maintain the boiler production heating systems including related equipment, electric pumps, air compressors, vacuum pumps, generators, and other equipment at the water treatment plant. Enter, read, interpret, and record readings from Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA software) and other recording instruments. Use technical and mechanical equipment, tools, other equipment, and vehicles. Lift, carry, and handle equipment, tools, supplies, and other materials up to 25 pounds in weight. Information specific to these positions:
Candidates will work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, including Holidays, 7-day work weeks, and opposing shifts or relief shifts when needed. The standard relief shifts are Monday - Friday, 44 hour week one and 36 hour week two. Shift length is self-determined between the hours of 6am-6pm, when not covering other operator's shifts. Candidates will be cross trained in at least one other position for development within the facility and to provide relief duties as needed.Our Benefits:

Position Requirements Must possess a Class D Water Operators Certificate from the Minnesota Department of Health by start date. AND must meet ONE of the following requirements: Two years of experience as a Maintenance Worker I or equivalent experience, assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of buildings and equipment, pertaining to water treatment, water pumping, and lime recovery operations. OR Completion of a post-secondary water or wastewater treatment program as specified by the department. OR Two years of post-secondary education which must include courses in mathematics or chemistry.Note:
