Job Description

The Chemical Plant Operator I performs routine or standardized Manufacturing & Production Operations tasks that ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to established procedures while developing basic job skills. Work is guided by defined processes, and simple issues are resolved using predefined solutions with limited discretion. The role supports team efficiency and service quality through consistent execution of tasks. Work is completed under direct supervision with specific instruction and moderate review. The role has no formal supervisory responsibilities but manages its own workload.
Key Responsibilities:
Operates assigned production equipment and process controls by following standard operating procedures and direct instruction to support safe and efficient output. Monitors basic process conditions, equipment readings, and product flow during operation and reports abnormalities or alarms to senior operators or supervisors. Performs routine in-process checks and visual inspections to help confirm product quality, equipment status, and adherence to operating requirements. Records production data, operating readings, and basic process information in required logs or systems with accuracy and timeliness. Assists with material handling, unloading, staging, and movement activities in accordance with established procedures and production needs. Follows required safety procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and material handling guidelines while completing assigned tasks. Supports routine cleaning, housekeeping, and area organization activities to maintain safe and orderly production conditions. Learns production processes, equipment functions, quality expectations, and departmental procedures to build proficiency in assigned operations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Entry-level position with little or no prior relevant training or work experience. Requires a High School Diploma/GED. Ability to perform routine tasks following established procedures with limited autonomy. Ability to resolve simple day-to-day issues using predefined solutions; escalates most issues to supervisor/manager as needed. Ability to follow standardized procedures and practices; works under close supervision with regular instruction. Ability to communicate information that requires little explanation or interpretation.
Shift schedule:
Must be able to work any shift, including rotating 12-hour shifts if needed.
