Experience Requirements At least 1 year of professional driving experience preferred. Experience operating larger trucks or commercial vehicles is a plus. Basic mechanical knowledge and experience using hand tools required. Previous railroad, transportation, field service, or industrial experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications Strong communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to workplace safety and customer satisfaction. Ability to work independently while traveling for extended periods. Experience maintaining electronic logs, inspection reports, inventory records, and expense documentation. Previous railroad industry experience is a plus. Physical Capabilities Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform light mechanical work. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hard hats, safety vests, gloves, and safety-toe boots. Willingness to travel extensively and remain away from home for extended periods. Job Duties Travel throughout the continental United States as part of a two-person rail inspection crew. Drive specialized rail inspection vehicles on highways and railroad tracks. Complete DOT vehicle inspections and maintain accurate driver logs, fuel reports, and maintenance records. Assist the Chief Operator with ultrasonic rail flaw detection testing activities. Identify, mark, and report rail defects according to customer and railroad requirements. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair testing equipment and vehicle components. Maintain inventory records, vehicle readiness, and required business expense documentation. Support housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and 5S initiatives to ensure safe and efficient operations.
