Role:
We are seeking a versatile, entry-level Field Service Battery Technician to join our tight-knit critical infrastructure team in the NOVA metro area. This is a hands-on field role, NOT a static shop job. You will be traveling to and working directly at critical customer sites (including major data centers) to assist with industrial battery and UPS backup power systems. We maintain a high-energy, collaborative, and positive environment where no task is beneath anyone, and "other duties as required" out in the field is a core part of the daily workflow.
Core Responsibilities Field Service Support:
Execute palletizing, packing, unpacking, heavy material preparation, and meticulous basic assembly of industrial battery systems directly on-site at customer locations.
Site & Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain job site order, safety, and strict cleanliness—including sweeping, organizing, and cleaning up work areas (and facilities if needed) so we leave customer sites looking better than we found them.
Materials Handling:
Safely transport, unload, and organize heavy critical power materials; effectively operate a pallet jack and forklift.
Precision Execution:
Complete all technical field tasks safely and efficiently while maintaining strict aesthetic and professional standards ("making it look pretty").
Required Qualifications & Skills Logistics & Site Access:
Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel daily to various regional customer sites. Must be able to obtain a D.O.T. Drivers Certificate (the company will fully sponsor and pay for this certification upon hire).
Security & Compliance:
Because we service high-security data center environments, candidates must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening to obtain mandatory site security badges.
Physical Demands:
Highly physical field role. Must be able to regularly and safely lift, move, and stack heavy industrial batteries weighing 100+ lbs in tight enclosure spaces using proper ergonomic techniques ("lifting with your legs"). Team & Attitude Integration (Strictly Required): The absolute ability to seamlessly integrate into a close-knit group, represent our company professionally in front of clients, and leave personal grievances outside the job site.
Technical & Mechanical Literacy:
Proficient in reading a tape measure, applying practical math skills, and safely handling sharp, cutty tools. A strong general understanding of hand/power tools, torque specifications (knowing exactly why a torque wrench matters on a live backup system), and a baseline knowledge of both AC and DC electrical systems is highly preferred.
Operational Flexibility:
Full availability and willingness to adapt to a non-standard schedule, including late shifts, weekends, and regional overnight travel to service customer sites.
Cultural Fit & Behavioral Expectations Urgency & Efficiency:
You must move with a purpose. We are on the clock at high-stakes customer sites; we have zero tolerance for foot-dragging or low effort.
Absolute Accountability:
We foster an environment of radical honesty. You must own your mistakes immediately rather than attempting to conceal a field "pooch screw." We respect accountability and use mistakes as learning opportunities—but you have to own it.
Positive Attitude:
We work hard but keep the atmosphere light and constructive ("whistle while you work" types). Chronic complainers, eye-rollers, or entitlement will not survive our culture.
To Apply:
Professional references are mandatory upon application. You don't have to be a field service god yet, as long as we can mold you into one. Submit your resume and references today.
